The short version
Verba does not operate advertising, behavioral analytics, cross-app tracking, or user accounts. Transcripts, notes, conversation data, history, dictionary entries, and writing preferences are stored locally on your device.
Microphone and speech recognition
Verba requests microphone and speech-recognition access to convert speech into text. On supported devices it uses Apple’s on-device speech technologies and installed speech assets. If on-device recognition is unavailable, Apple’s speech-recognition services may process audio under Apple’s terms.
Verba does not send recordings or transcripts to a Verba-operated server. The App Store build does not maintain a background standby microphone session.
Keyboard extension
With Full Access off, the Verba extension remains a typing keyboard. With Full Access on, the keyboard and main app use an Apple App Group to exchange a pending command, live status, and the finished text you requested. Full Access is not used to profile typing, sell activity, serve advertising, or track you across apps.
Apple does not permit ordinary custom keyboard extensions to capture microphone audio. Keyboard-requested dictation is therefore recorded and processed only after you bring the main Verba app to the foreground. The shared result is cleared after insertion.
Local writing models
Supported devices may use Apple Intelligence. You may also download Verba’s optional Qwen3 local writing model. The download host, currently Hugging Face, receives ordinary network information such as your IP address under its own policy. Once installed, text transformations run on your device and the model remains inside Verba’s app storage until removed.
Conversation Mode and speaker models
Conversation Mode records audio in Verba, creates a transcript, and uses optional FluidAudio speaker-identification models to group transcript segments by speaker. The model host may receive ordinary download network information. Speaker analysis runs locally after download.
Conversation audio, timestamps, speaker labels, and transcript text remain in Verba’s Application Support storage. The audio is deleted with its note, when replaced, or if analysis fails.
Notes, history, dictionary, and preferences
If history is enabled, Verba stores transcript text, dates, durations, word counts, and locally generated titles. Notes may include tags, pins, revisions, conversation speakers, and retained conversation audio. Search and date filtering run locally.
Personal dictionary terms, suggestions, observation counts, selected modes, translation preferences, appearance, and limited local before-and-after writing examples remain on your device. Suggestions require your approval.
Clipboard and sharing
If Auto-copy is enabled, Verba places finished text on the iOS clipboard. Other apps may access clipboard content according to iOS controls. When you copy, share, export, or submit feedback, information leaves Verba only through the destination and options you choose.
Help, feedback, and diagnostics
Help & Feedback uses the iOS share sheet. You may optionally include app/device details and a bounded operational log of recent app and keyboard state transitions. The diagnostic log does not contain recordings, transcript text, notes, or finished dictation text. Nothing is sent automatically.
Data sale and tracking
Verba does not sell personal information, share dictations for advertising, or track users across other companies’ apps and websites.
Retention and deletion
History can be disabled, deleted manually, or automatically deleted after the selected period. Notes and dictionary entries remain until deleted. Removing an optional model deletes that model. Deleting Verba removes its locally stored app data; Apple-managed speech assets are controlled by iOS.
Children and policy changes
Verba is not directed to children under 13, and no Verba-operated account service knowingly collects information from children. This policy may change as Verba develops; the effective date will change when material revisions are published.
